Victor Burgin: Voyage to Italy
Victor Burgin: Voyage to Italy
For the internationally known artist and theoretician Victor Burgin, a nineteenth-century photograph from the CCA collection, a view of the Basilica at Pompeii by Carlo Fratacci, prompted a series of images. Voyage to Italy documents the many perspectives of the artist’s reflections on Pompeii.

Victor Burgin: Voyage to Italy is part of the Tangent series, which was initiated by the cultural historian Hubertus von Amelunxen, who selected close to two hundred images from the CCA collection and invited four invited artists into dialogue with this selection through the commission of new works that provide a tangential reading of architecture.
