Bernard Cache, Objectile
In this publication, Bernard Cache and Greg Lynn discuss the origins of Objectile, a web-based system for generating unique decorative panels and furniture which predicted a future of customizable form on demand.
In 2015, Cache’s twenty-year-old dream of industrially produced nonstandard objects seems to have been broadly realized, but there have been important and unforeseen changes along the way. The conversation ranges from Deleuze to the financial crisis, from differences between European and American architecture education to the fate of early CADsoftware companies.
As part of a multiyear project that includes three exhibitions on twenty-five seminal projects, the CCA and Greg Lynn are publishing a series of digital publications recording conversations with key architects. The epubs are heavily illustrated with photos, drawings, renderings, videos, PDFs and interactive 3D models.
