Publié à l'occasion d'une exposition au Centre culturel canadien de Paris, Histoires croisées s'intéresse à l'impact des femmes sur la ville postmoderne. Pour ce faire, la publication met l'accent sur les trajectoires personnelles et professionnelles de trois protagonistes qui, chacune à leur manière, ont façonné l'environnement intellectuel et physique de leur ville : la journaliste et critique d'architecture Ada Louise Huxtable, et les architectes Phyllis Lambert et Gae Aulenti. Toutes trois partagent une relation ambivalente avec l'architecture de béton et d'acier du mouvement moderne de l'après-guerre, largement critiquée dans les années 1960 pour son caractère aliénant, standardisé et anhistorique.

Published in conjunction of an exhibition held at the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris, Crossed Histories focuses on the impact of women on the postmodern city. To do so, the publication emphases on the personal and professional trajectories of three protagonists who, each in their own way, shaped the intellectual and physical environment of their city: journalist and architecture critic Ada Louise Huxtable, and architects Phyllis Lambert and Gae Aulenti. All three share an ambivalent relationship with the concrete- and-steel architecture of the post-World War II modern movement, which was widely criticized in the 1960s for being alienating, standardized and ahistorical.
